David Gessner was an avid Ultimate player for 20 years in the Boston area and is now a successful writer with a number of books. In "Sick of Nature" (2004) he includes a series of essays including one on Ultimate. In the Ultimate History Book publisher's opinion, Gessner's essay "Ultimate Glory" is the best description of the impact the sport can have on a person that I have ever read. It should be mandatory reading for all Ultimate players' parents and family ;)
You can read an excerpt of his Ultimate essay here.
